Edition Dino Simonett, 2004
Since the late 1990s, Valerio Olgiati has been regarded as one of Switzerland's most independent and outstanding representative architects. His works include the School Building Paspels, 1998, Das Gelbe Haus, 1999, the Visiting Center Swiss National Park, 2008, and proposals to participate in the National Palace Museum Taiwan, 2004. Collective publications about Ogiati include “Collection of 14 Student Works by Ogiati: 1998-2000” (14 Student Projects with Valerio Olgiati 1998-2000), limited edition of 500 copies of “Varerio Ogiati: One Percent Drawings” (Valerio Olgiati PLAN 1:100) Other out-of-print books.
Published between 1993 and 2002, the book contains seven architectural works built and unbuilt, and presents a detailed black and white outline of architectural drawings using larger pages than a typical newspaper (approximately 90×57 cm.). As the title suggests, all architectural drawings in the book are drawn at one percent scale, making for an interesting template for observing and contrasting the scale of the work.
It is worth mentioning that the case of The Malans House, 1993, which is the earliest recorded in the book, does not appear in the collection of works authorized by other architects, as well as other unbuilt projects in Ogiati, such as The Lake Cauma Project, 1998~2002), houses on the west coast of Corsica (House in Western Corsica, 1999~), etc., parallel to each other in a schematic manner, It shows a clear spatial layout and Ogiati's exploration of abstract architecture that is worth a close read for architecture lovers.
This wonderful collection of works is published by Dino Simonett, the renowned art and architecture book publisher Edition in Zurich, which was later reorganized as Simonett & Baer, and in 2018 published the second official collection of Ogiati firm Projekten 2009-2017。
