Victims: A Work by John Hejduk

Victims is a publication accompanying the 1986 Architectural Association(AA) exhibition in London, which features John Hejduk’s competition entry for the 1984 International Building Exhibition (IBA) in Germany. His proposal reimagined the Prinz-Albert-Palais gardens, once a Gestapo headquarters during WWII. Hejduk introduced 67 “role-playing” structures, integrating gardens and transportation to transform the site into a narrative space evolving over time. This volume is the inaugural edition of the AA School of Architecture’s Text series,conceived to “bridge the gap between physical architecture and conceptual discourse.”
