WINSING ART PLACE
On the occasion of Winsing Art Place's anniversary, the Winsing Arts Foundation engaged Assistant Professor Jr-Gang Chi from Shih Chien University and his Jr. Gang Architectural Lab to participate in the selection for the bookstore, as well as the annual book exhibition. The exhibition features 300 books that illustrate the modern architectural waves still resonating worldwide, along with several significant out-of-print publications. During the lockdowns due to the pandemic, readers are able to embark on journeys beyond borders and barriers.
The audience can explore the origins of spatial concepts through three main themes:
Architects: A collection of influential architectural works from Europe, America, and Japan spanning different eras.
Architectural Thought: Setting out from Survival Through Design(1954) by California architect Richard Neutra (1892-1970), this theme also includes catalogues of notable exhibitions from institutions like MoMA in New York and Canadian Center for Architecture in Montreal, among other organizations, as well as classic architectural magazines such as "Log" and "Oppositions," documenting the emergence of architectural thought.
Artists: This theme explores the cross-disciplinary works of artists like Gordon Matta-Clark (1943-1978), Sol LeWitt (1928-2007), and Ed Ruscha (1937-), along with albums by renowned architectural photographers Bernd and Hilla Becher and Hélène Binet (1959-), providing alternative perspectives on exploring architectural possibilities.
